COLONIE VETERANS MEMORIAL

This main page was last updated on 6 February 2010. Each individual page is updated whenever changes are necessary so please return often to see what has been added. If is marked by the links posted below--then they have been updated since 1 February 2010.

Welcome to the new Colonie Veterans Memorial web site! There is also a Facebook group for this memorial!

This is A MEMORIAL FOR ALL VETERANS.

Throughout the engraving process before Dedication Day and the Fall engraving session the Founder did his best to keep family members, groups of friends or organizations together regardless of what their last names were as they wanted. However he will no longer be able to do that. if your bricks are already engraved and you want someone else engraved near you he won't be able to move other bricks to accommodate your request in the future. While the field of paver/bricks is not completely filled in yet it has become harder to relocate the bricks. So he is sorry to say that he made the decision that he won't be able to move bricks in the future. Brick orders will continue to be accepted and the next engraving may be done in time for Memorial Day 2010.

"This memorial will create a lasting symbol that honors all Veterans in the Colonie community that served in the past, recognizes those serving today and brings awareness to future generations of the dedication and sacrifice that Veterans made for our country," said Robert A. LaDuke, Founder.

To my knowledge this is the first memorial to honor members of the Merchant Marine as well as those who served or will serve in the Army, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard and Air Force. This new 2,500 square foot memorial can be found at The Crossings of Colonie located at 580 Albany Shaker Road, Loudonville, NY.

The Crossings of Colonie is a fitting place to host and maintain this memorial. As a passive park at the crossroads of the town itself, one of the park's primary purposes is reflection. It is hoped that the memorial's location adjacent to the playground will encourage families to educate their children about the sacrifices made by previous generations.
